Pay it Forward: Making Good Food More Accessible for Everyone
At Cardiff Farmers Markets, we believe that good food should be for everyone. That’s why, starting this month, we’re excited to launch Pay it Forward — a simple, meaningful way for customers to support their community.
Here’s how it works: when you shop at our markets, you’ll have the option to add just £1 (or more) to your bill. That small contribution will go directly towards helping someone else buy fresh, local, and sustainably grown produce from participating traders: Paul’s Organic Vegetables and Coed Organic.
This initiative will support members of the Planet Card scheme - which now has over 100 members and is already helping to connect more people with good food. Pay it Forward builds on that momentum, creating a market where everyone can take part and where access to healthy food is something we achieve together.
Pay it Forward is a small step that makes a big difference. Every contribution - whether it’s £1 or more — helps strengthen our market community, supporting farmers, growers, and fellow shoppers alike. When more people can enjoy the market, we all benefit. Look for the Pay it Forward signs at participating stalls and ask your trader about adding to your shop to share the goodness.
Schemes like this have been instrumental to Cardiff gaining a Gold Sustainable Food Places Award via Food Cardiff (the local sustainable food partnership), and tie into Cardiff’s ambitions to be one of the most sustainable food cities in the UK.
