Autumn's seasonal best

Autumn is the traditional harvest season and, if you’ve been growing at home, it’s the season for picking, pickling and preserving. . And it’s also the start of the autumn fruit, with this year’s apples and pear crop being picked and in abundance at the markets (great for jam and gin makers!) Autumn is also game season so we’ll find venison and other meats alongside the last of the summer lamb. You can make the most of one of the best months of the year for local, seasonal produce at any of our weekly markets.

We’re pleased to say that our markets have never been busier and there’s lots of new producers wanting to sell with us - great news for our customers and it shows the strength of the independent food sector in Wales.

We regularly profile our producers, taking you behind the scenes as they share the stories behind their businesses. You can check them out here

Fancy a market lunch in Llandaff?

We’re thrilled to be able to restart our Cardiff Met University markets after a year off due to lockdowns. It’s going to be bigger and better than ever with a new covered outdoor site and space for around a dozen stalls - it’s a speciality market which focuses on street food, cakes and bakes.

While it’s located on the Llandaff campus, it’s open to everyone - so if you’re in the area and fancy something local, seasonal and delicious for lunch (or a sweet treat) please drop in. There’s no parking on site, but it’s really well served for public transport, walking and cycling.

The Cardiff Met markets run from 10am until 3pm on:

Tuesday 28 September

Tuesday 19 October

Tuesday 23 November
