Hamish Symonds Ceramics

I am a potter work from fireworks clay studio in riverside, I make colourful and playful pottery drawing from European salt glaze traditions. My favourite part of making handmade ceramics is the decoration as it's the most free and expressive stage. I started making pottery in this way as I want to break the expectation that studio pottery is something stern and serious. I am most proud of the large harvest jugs I make, I work on them over several days and allow myself a long time to carve and decorate them spending a long time on one piece allows you to really get a sense of its form.
