InnerCityPickle

Hi, I am Eira founder of InnerCityPickle based in Adamsdown, Cardiff. I make preserves such as jams, chutneys, pickles, relishes, jellies, marmalades, sauces, curds, krauts and cordials in my home kitchen using locally grown ingredients wherever possible and was awarded GOLD by the Wales the True Taste Awards in 2012 for my Mostarda di Frutta.

I started InnerCityPickle 10 years ago. People loved my homemade preserves and bakes and suggested that I should sell them, so I did. This is my 10th year in business and I still love what I do. InnerCityPickle is local, seasonal and sustainable! I preserve wonderful foodstuffs that might otherwise go to waste and customers return their empty jars a to be recycled and used again and again.

Looking at beautiful produce makes me want to make something delicious with it. I am inspired by the seasonal produce that is offered to me by my lovely customers who are also now my suppliers. You can find your regular faves at my stall and new products too! People ask whether I make such-and-such and I will try to oblige where possible, with some of the results going on to become hugely popular.

I make a lot of my products using organic produce from Paul’s Organic Veg. I supply Ty Caws cheesemongers with specialist jellies and pickles, and also jams for Miles Better Baking's delicious Welshcakes.

My pear chutney is always a favourite of mine and because I am given surplus pears from my customers from all over Cardiff I am able to offer several local variations. I love collecting elderflower and making it into cordial from start to finish.

You can find the fantastic InnerCityPickle weekly at Roath Market and online at website and @innercitypickle - Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
