Markets returning with social distancing measures

Thank you for your support during lockdown and for continuing to shop with our brilliant food and drink producers. More than 5,000 people visited our online deliveries directory and we’re all grateful for your support.

We’re now at the stage where the markets can return - but we need to make some changes in the interest of safety.

As well as changes to the market set-up, we will be putting social distancing measures in place to create an environment which is safe for customers, traders and staff.

In practice this means:

-    In the initial weeks, markets will have fewer stalls to allow more room and we will focus on offering a mix of essential food supplies
-    We will not be able to provide seating areas or drinks/food to consume on site
-    Opening hours will be strictly observed and there will be no customer access to markets outside of these hours
-    Some traders may continue to operate on a pre-ordered click-and-collect basis

To maintain social distancing:

-    Numbers on site at any one time will be limited and you may have to queue to enter
-    We will operate a one way system through our markets - for Riverside, you will enter from the north end of the Embankment and exit from the south
-    We ask that you shop swiftly and move along so that we can serve as many customers as possible
-    Please do not attend the market in groups of more than two people (from the same household)
-    Only card payment will be accepted - preferably contactless. No cash.

Reopening dates:

Rhiwbina: Friday June 12th 10am - 1pm
Roath: Sat June 13th 9:30am - 1pm
Riverside: Sun June 21st 10am - 2pm

Thank you in advance for your understanding and support as we implement these new measures to bring our markets back - we look forward to seeing you.
