CARDIFF FARMERS MARKETS - COVID 19 UPDATE - 18.03.20

Many customers rely on our markets for their weekly food shopping and it is important that we continue to give our farmers and producers an opportunity to sell their products. At present the Government has not advised retailers to close.

The following markets will be OPEN this weekend as usual Rhiwbina, Roath and Riverside. These markets will remain open until further notice.

Markets at St Fagans, Cardiff University and Cardiff Metropolitan University will be CLOSED until further notice.

To keep our producers, staff and customers safe, please do not attend the markets if you have any symptoms - a high temperature and new, persistent cough - however mild. Follow the latest NHS stay at home advice.

Please wash your hands regularly and before coming to the markets and bring hand sanitizer to use regularly while shopping. We recognise this is in short supply and are working on having our own facilities in place in time for this weekend.

From this weekend we are taking additional measures to support social distancing:

Please visit this website if you are unsure who falls into this category

  • Removal of social spaces such as tables and chairs

  • Increasing spacing between stalls

  • Postponement of all events, demonstrations and music until further notice

  • Asking customers to wash hands and bring and use hand sanitizer

  • Making contactless payment the default for all traders where possible (cash will still be accepted for those who do not have contactless cards)

Public health advice is being updated daily and we will respond accordingly - please check our social feeds and customer newsletter for updates.

Now more than ever it is important we come together as a community to support each other during these challenging times, to promote compassion and care for those who are most vulnerable.

Thank you to our amazing producers and growers who are working day and night to ensure food is available at our markets. And a huge thank you to all our staff and customers for your continued support - please stay safe and well.
