The Riverside Community Food Coop now sells around 75 bags a week of fresh produce to local residents for £2 per bag. Currently the produce comes from a wholesaler, but the longer term plan is to source as much of it locally as possible. RCMA has been offered £45k over 3 years from the Waterloo Foundation towards the cost of getting our Market Garden project in Cowbridge off the ground as a social enterprise. (Now we just need to find the other £45k) |
Riverside Community Garden (Allotment) Project - Come Grow With Us! Venue: Riverside Community Garden Project, Pontcanna Fields, Western Ave, Riverside Access from Riverside through fields past Riding stables. Car and bus access - Opposite UWIC Western Avenue (MAP). Food co-op In 2006, RCMA helped establish a food co-op in the Riverside area. As well as providing low cost fresh produce, the Coop helps create strong social links between the diverse communities of Riverside. RCMA has received
funding from the Assembly to prepare a business plan for the RCMA Market
Garden which will be set up on 5 acres of land near Cardiff with the aim
of contributing to the supply of locally grown organic produce. |
