Phil Bevan is one of our longest established stallholders; he came to the first Riverside Market way back in 1998! Phil's vegetables are all certified Organic - which maybe helps explain the size of those parsnips!
Phil and his family grow their fantastic veggies at Ty Mawr - welsh for Great House - farm, which lies between Abergavenny & Raglan in the beautiful valley of the Usk in Monmouthshire.
Phil's produce is always picked the night before a market - or sometimes at the crack of dawn on the same day - so you are sure that everything is at the peak of freshness and flavour.
Phil has been featured in numerous newspaper articles about organic farmers - he is one of the most exoerienced in Wales, and really 'knows his onions'. He's always at the market with a ready smile and a (usually bad) joke, no matter what the weather. It must be the effect of all those organic sprouts he's been eating!

Fran Munro is probably one of the best known - and most friendly - stallholders at our farmers markets.
She loves seeing people enjoy her products so much that everyone always walks away with something to sample or taste. And children usually end up with more than they can manage to eat!
Fran's Welsh cakes are cooked in the traditional way, and have a range of fillings, including fresh strawberry, coconut, and choc chip and orange. These, and a range of dry pancake mixes, are also available from Fran's website and can be posted worldwide.
When Fran is cooking, a wonderful aroma permeates the market and draw customers to her stall from far and wide, and it's never long before she she is selling them like...hot cakes!
Fran also specialises in freshly-made delicious veggie-burgers, with all the usual fillings such as freshly-fried organic onions and tomatoes. These have to be the tastiest burgers available for those that don't want to eat meat, and they are available in a ranges of flavours and types, served in a locally-baked bun.
Fran is a real market character, and likes to roar around Wales on her Harley Davidson clad in black leather from head to toe on the weekends.
She also drives a wonderful vintage Citroen 2 CV, which you might see (and hear!) if you come early on market day.
