Roath Market every Saturday, 9:30am-1pm

Riverside Market every Sunday, 10am-2pm

Roath Real Food Market – The new Cardiff farmers’  market set up by the people responsible for the award winning Riverside Market - is going from strength to strength since the grand opening on St David's Day!

Roath Real Food Market will now run every Saturday morning from 9.30am to 1pm at the Mackintosh Sports Club. Click here for pictures.

Riverside Market runs every Sunday, on Fitzhamon Embankment in Riverside, right opposite the Millennium Stadium.

These markets have become Cardiff's top places to buy local, welsh and organic produce of outstanding quality.

Our aims are:

  • helping local producers to find direct markets
  • providing excellent fresh food at good prices for local people

Each week at both sites there are up to 30 producers selling the very best of almost everything, from bread and cakes, fish and meat, flowers and fruit & veg, to farmhouse cheese and Welsh malt whisky.

Taste and believe! There's also music, fresh fair trade coffee, and a friendly welcome.

Inside you will find a collection of delicious recipes from the residents of Riverside in Cardiff.

Making these dishes will take you on an imaginary journey around the world, all from the comfort of your kitchen.

You will be able to sample a range of cuisines inspired by Riverside, Galicia, Jamaica, Djibouti, New York, new age and more. The recipes include tasty treats and indulgent snacks, warming soups and scrumptious main meals.

All the recipes and images were collected as part of the Fitzhamon Embankment public art project. They provided inspiration for the design of the artwork installed on Fitzhamon Embankment.

Why not try out the recipes by coming to the market for your ingredients?

Riverside Market was also runner up in the 2007 BBC Radio 4 Food And Farming Awards (for the second time!) - by all accounts we came a close 2nd! Many thanks to everyone for their support.

Riverside Market recently featured on UKTV Local Food Heroes as one of the six finalists in Wales!

Unfortunately we did not progress to the final stage, however the programme was an excellent opportunity to show viewers what we have to offer here in Cardiff...

LATEST NEWS

Riverside Community Market Association (RCMA) - organisers of the award-winning weekly Riverside Real Food Market have appointed Catherine Siviter ("Cat") Email in a new post of Local Food Outreach Worker, based in Riverside.

Cat has a lot of relevant experience of working with diet, nutrition and community development, and is coming back to working after a year's maternity leave.

She will be based in a newly acquired shop-front office location at 22 Ninian Park Road, Riverside - which she will be sharing with the Wales office of the Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens. The shared interests of the two organisations - both of which are working in the field of local food and health - means there is excellent potential for them to work together, and the shop front location will help create a pubic profile for their work and with developing good links with the local community.

One of Cat's first tasks will be to network with local organisations, and to begin to plan a programme of local food activities.

The market is run by RCMA Social Enterprise, a community business, which manages a number of other food and health projects in Cardiff.
